I’m Dave Roos. This page, and the network around it is my PNCA senior thesis project. More importantly, it’s my attempt to provide a place where the music I love can become a little easier to find.
On the surface, #pdxnotpop is intended to be a way to find local music that isn’t easy to find. It’s also a way to spread information, connect communities and bring people together; bands and fans, venues and audiences, artists and bookers, you get the idea.
While I’ll do my best to spread information, I can’t –and won’t– do it all by myself. I need help, and hopefully I’ve made it easy to do. There are several ways to contribute.
One: Comment on any post.
Two: Use the #pdxnotpop hashtag anywhere you can. Any Twitter post with #pdxnotpop in it will be picked up and displayed in the sidebar. Use it to announce shows, venues, bands, etc. Tag Flickr photos, Youtube videos, etc.
Three: Feel free to email me, either at admin (at) pdxnotpop.net, or at david.w.roos (at) gmail.com.
Let me know what’s going on, tell me about last night’s show – better yet – tell us about the the show tomorrow night, or next week, or next month. Tell me if you want to help out with #pdxnotpop; reviews, previews, haikus.
Lastly, keep coming back. I’m busy as hell trying to fix up the place and move in some content. Keep an eye out for the #pdxnotpop outposts on Myspace, Facebook, and soon to a real-world wall near you.
Thanks,
Dave Roos

Hey David,
I’m interested in talking to you about this project. I’m moving to PDX soon from so. oregon and have a lot of the same ideas about underground music. Hit me up via email and we can talk.
Nice site btw,
Patrick
